MEDLOCK PLACE HISTORIC NEIGHBORHOOD

Neighborhood Meeting.   DECEMBER 5, 2023

Attendees:   Twenty-two neighbors attended the meeting on Dec. 5, 2023.

Board members:  Ellen Bilbrey, Lisa Brown, Paul King, Pam Woods

Treasurer report:  Lisa Brown

     $432.18:  checking - $4,729.23:  savings
        Member donations:  $100

Speaker:  Rick Degraw gave a presentation on the Medlock Place irrigation system at the mains and how big repairs had to be done last month to replace two slides that had rusted away.  He

was given donation money from various neighbors and two commercial real estate owners on Central which covered the repair costs with some left over for future repairs.

Zoning:  Ellen gave a report on one zoning issue around the neighborhood that the neighbors can weigh in on: The Applebees at Central and Camelback is facing quite a few zoning variances as it becomes the new restaurant, The Henry.   The Colter Bike Trail meeting was held today, however we were not able to attend as we had the neighborhood meeting.

Crime issues:  The neighborhood is thankful that the three open properties on Camelback just East of Third Avenue were cleaned up and especially thank Barry Chasse who hired a crew to clean up the dirt fields and then fence the entire property to protect it from vandals.

Lisa Brown gave a presentation about keeping the "drug signage" or as the city calls it "graffiti" off all the buildings around our neighborhood. We are constantly painting over the marks and keeping in touch with the Neighborhood Services department to keep transients out of the alleys. A fire was started in the commercial alley behind Arc Printing which shut down the cable network for neighbors along Pasadena and damaged the company's equipment.  The photo of the fire starter was distributed by email so neighbors would possibly identify him if he is in our neighborhood again. 

Garage Sale:  Ellen gave a report on the recent garage sale that netted $190 to go to each of the three irrigation districts to help with their repairs.  Thanks go to those that donated items for the sale.

If you have joined our neighborhood you know all the benefits of being able to walk to the restaurants.  You can search out some yummy ice cream or a salad while getting a little exercise in the quiet streets of Uptown.


We would encourage you to put a chair in the front of your house and say hello to your neighbors when they walk by...that makes the neighborhood even more friendly!  I'm at 215 Georgia..say hi!!

All neighborhood work managed by volunteers only.


Irrigation management of funds, repairs.  Other activities include: contacting neighborhood services, fundraising, website, social media, blockwatch activities, zoning lobbying, graffiti management and more.


You can always sign up to help the Board on a committee OR be a board member. 


Donaltions are helpful to solve problems for the neighborhood.  We thank you all for helping solve our irrigation problem by contributing to our IRRIGATION MAINTENANCE FUND


OUR GARAGE SALE ON NOVEMBER 11 WILL BE TO SUPPORT THE IRRIGATION MAINTENANCE FUND FOR THE THREE DISTRICTS.

MEETINGS

Article IX: Code of Conduct

All Members attending Association Meetings shall agree and adhere to a code of conduct or forfeit their rights to attend Association Meetings. Members who violate the Code of Conduct will be requested to leave the meeting. As Association Meetings are held in private and rented facilities, the owner of the property shall have the right to exclude temporarily or permanently any Association Member or attendee they deem to be dangerous or otherwise unfit to be on their property. Violations of the Code of Conduct include but are not limited to:

·       Belligerent behavior such as shouting, name calling, threatening Members, interrupting others, not respecting others rights to state their opinions/positions.

·       Attending meetings while intoxicated or under the influence of illegal drugs.

·       Use of vulgar language.

·       Not respecting the rights of others to conduct their business in peace.

·       Physically threatening or intimidating a Member.

·       Harassing or intimidating Members in the community because of their positions on neighborhood affairs.

·       Harassing or belligerent behavior towards invited guests and speakers at Association Meetings.
